About family-time workshops
Family time – often called ‘contact’ – refers to arranged time a child spends with family, usually their birth parents. This workshop is for special guardians who are finding difficult to manage a child’s contact with their family.
Contact with family can be beneficial for children, but creating the conditions for good quality contact can be challenging. It is the issue most guardians contact us for support with.
A family-time workshop is led by experienced members of our support team. You join other special guardians to talk about and find practical ways you can manage issues and improve the quality of contact time.
It is a great opportunity to get expert input on your situation and to hear and learn from the experiences of others.
Workshops typically last three hours and you can attend remotely or in-person. We run several each year.
In a family-time workshop, you will:
explore the latest research around contact with family
get support to make contact with family a positive experience for the child you care for
explore your personal experience of contact, including any challenges you are facing
The schedule, frequency and location of workshops varies depending on how many people are interested. Please contact our advice line to speak to the team and find out more.
