About the service

Buckinghamshire Council provides all special guardians with a free, confidential, 24-hour health and wellbeing support service.

The service is provided by a third-party called HELP Workplace Wellbeing (NB This service was previously supplied by a provider called PAM Assist).

This is an independent service offered to all council staff which we have extended access to in order to cover Special Guardians (along with foster Carers and Adopters).

The wording on the advice line and website refers to ‘Employee Assistance’ and ‘Workplace Wellbeing’ but rest assured it covers advice on all topics listed below and guardians can access all elements of the service free of charge and in confidence. You can use the service as many times as you need, free of charge.

The specialist counsellors and health experts can help you with issues including:

  • abuse

  • addiction

  • anxiety

  • death

  • depression

  • divorce and separation

  • family conflict

  • illness and dealing with a diagnosis

  • mental health

  • relationships

  • work-realted issues.

You can use it independently of our advice line for guardians.
